MOUNTAIN TO VALLEY
This photo series was a project I wanted to challenge myself with by including tangible mixed media, so I chose to add embroidery thread. I was inspired by the song "Mountain to Valley" by Housefires. The song's meaning relates to how God's love and presence are constant throughout the highs and lows of life. The chorus spoke to me the most, saying:
From the mountain to the valley
From the desert to the raging sea
And in the silence or the city streets
Oh your presence always covers me

This is a digital photo that I edited in Lightroom to make black and white so the thread was the only focus for color. I printed out my photos on 8x10" photo paper and chose to embroider the photo with various colored threads to add texture, especially in the flowers. I wanted to match the colors with the particular terrain while keeping the yellow around the model as the main focus.
